I arrive in San Diego Sunday evening at 6:15 and could join a get-together
about 7.  I could arrange to arrive earlier if an earlier get-together works
better.

does anybody know of a suitable venue?  Beer can be had all over the
Gas-light district, but to my knowledge only at sidewalk tables.  Student
dives with bigger tables, etc., near the Convention center are, if any,
rare.  Suggestions???

Now that is good news!

I hope we can arrange something for Sunday - perhaps earlier than the
evening - or maybe even Saturday - though Martin and I are trying to arrange
to meet with Carver Mead. When do you arrive?

Dear Folks,
 

By God's grace (a remarkable story), I think that I will be able to attend
the Conference. Is there still a planned get together (over beer?) on Sunday
evening by an attending portion of the group?
 

While I should be able to attend, I have less time beforehand than I had
expected. Nevertheless, Mary Fletcher and I have put together a preliminary
questionnaire that we hope will be answered by the group to be modified into
a useful structure. Hopefully, it will be one from which Rachel might
produce a 'check box' questionnaire that can provide some quantification of
the views of the present and future groups.
 

Please fill out the attached Excel file with brief answers. I have included
my answers as a guideline. You can see that they are not complete. At some
point we might have the contributors reference papers (& page numbers) for
more details. We will try to integrate the answers in some manner. If you
have suggested changes to the questions and additional questions of
interest, please include them. We will try to incorporate these into a
future version.
 

For those w/o Excel, I have added a PDF version of the file, to which can be
added 'boxed' text or sticky notes for the answers.
 

We hope to have a version of the questions and answers available in
electronic and hard-copy versions at the conference. We expect some/many of
the answers will change during the conference (just as some of my answers
have changed during the online discussions). A comparison of before and
after should be interesting.
 

The questionnaire need not be limited to the discussion group. However,
those names may be the only ones analyzed and included (at least for the
present). I hope that this conference and questionnaire will lead to a
publication from the 'collaboration' of thinkers in this area.
